Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I access regular TV channels on my smartphone?

Mobile phones use a very different format for accessing and watching TV. Because of the video formatting, Flash supported vs. non-supported, wireless carrier network speeds vs. Wi-Fi/Broadband, power consumption, etc., all of these factors come in to play and make it a complex equation.

Can any smartphone access a Mobile TV show?

Yes and no. A lot of this has to do with how the channel is transmitting the signal and which format it is being presented in. For example, you might be able to access the channel for a TV show on your iPhone but if formatted using Flash, it won't work. In fact, many smartphones won't play Flash based content and there needs to be a workaround for this.

Does watching Mobile TV eat up my data plan?

Streaming vs downloading is really not different, except that streaming is usually lower quality and uses less data. How much data you use depends heavily on codecs involved along with a myriad of other factors including; video duration, video resolution, frame rate, video bitrate, audio bitrate and audio channels (mono or stereo). However, usually for mobile, and especially for streaming, these values are taken to the lowest possible relation between file size and quality to optimize network usage. With all that said, here is our advice; ALWAYS watch Mobile TV using a Wi-Fi connection OR, have an unlimited data plan just to be safe.

Is Mobile TV offered by my carrier?

Most carriers in North America are now offering Mobile TV as an add-on to your monthly plan. This ranges from $5 - $15 and can only be purchased through the carrier directly and you just have a contract plan.

How long will it take for any mobile channel to load on my smartphone?

The average load time for each channel is approximately 10 - 15 seconds.

Are you a subscription service?
